Strain

Identify any strain. Keep the journal.

The pocket companion for serious strain collectors. Point the camera at a bud, plant, or concentrate. Get ranked matches with confidence. Log the jars you actually own — not a dispensary catalog.

Who it’s for

Built for the jar, not the mall.

Home stashes, grow tents, concentrate trays, and traders share the same journal. The category changes what the model looks for. The honesty does not.

Home jars

Unknown flower in the jar. Snap the bud, get a ranked shortlist, decide if it belongs in the journal.

Growers

Plant and leaf shots from the tent. Category-aware matching so a sativa leaf is not scored like a concentrate.

Concentrates

Wax, rosin, shatter, carts. Hint the catalog, then let the photo do the work.

Traders

Owned, wishlist, for-trade. Optional username when you want to swap — never required to journal.

Permanent pillars

Six things that do not ship as vapor.

01

Camera + library

Live snap or import from photos. Single strain or batch. Manual add if you already know the name.

02

Category first

Indica, Sativa, Hybrid, Concentrate, CBD / Hemp. The model looks at the right features.

03

Ranked matches

Candidates with confidence scores. Compare the shortlist. Do not accept the first guess blindly.

04

Visual only

Estimates for journaling — never sold as lab tests, medical advice, or legal advice. The app says that out loud.

05

The journal

Notes, effects, flavors, ratings, THC / CBD. A living log of the strains you actually tried.

06

Export & trade

Take your data with you. Wishlist, trades, and optional cloud backup. The journal is not trapped in the app.

Snap Live

Pick a category. Then snap the strain.

Camera or gallery. Single strain or batch. Manual add if you already know what it is.

Category first so the model hunts bud structure, pistils, trichomes, and chemotype instead of treating every photo like the same hybrid. Good light and a full frame still win.

  • Indica, Sativa, Hybrid, Concentrate, CBD / Hemp, Other.
  • Camera or photo library. Categories only hint the catalog — the photo is what gets identified.
  • Single mode: one strain, review, identify. Batch: snap, snap, snap, then identify each.
  • Catalog hit first when the strain is already known. API only if needed.
  • Photos are resized for identification. They are not sold.
Android Snap tab with Indica, Sativa, Hybrid, Concentrate chips and Camera / Gallery actions.
Snap Strain home with Snap a Strain as the primary action.

Identify Live

Chemotype, structure, then a shortlist.

Ranked candidates with confidence. Free IDs first. Optional Pro when you want more.

Free tier includes a photo-ID allotment and catalog browse. Stronger models only when you pick them. Easy IDs stay cheap.

  • Looks at bud structure, pistils, trichomes, leaf, and concentrate texture.
  • Catalog match first. Network vision only if the catalog misses.
  • Confidence score on every candidate. Low score is labeled, not hidden.
  • Save to the journal with notes, effects, flavors, and a rating.
  • Estimates only. Not a lab. Not medical advice. Not a legality check.
Snap screen: optional scan categories and a well-lit, fill-the-frame capture hint.

Visual honesty

A high confidence is still not a lab test.

The app says that out loud. Identifications are visual estimates for personal journaling. Not potency, not safety, not medical or legal advice. 21+ where cannabis is legal.

Collection Live

Owned, wishlist, trades. One journal.

Search, filter by category, keep a streak. Empty states push you to snap a real strain, not browse a store.

Home

Owned, wishlist, streak. Snap and Collection one tap away. The disclaimer sits where you see it.

Owned Streak

Album

List, grid, or shelf. Filter Indica through CBD / Hemp. Search the jars you already logged.

Owned Wishlist

Trades

Optional. Sign in to post or accept. The journal works without a trade username.

For trade

Backup

Export, import, optional cloud sync. Betas can wipe local data — back up after you scan.

Journal Live

More than an ID. The strains you actually tried.

Notes, effects, flavors, ratings, THC / CBD. A history you’ll use next time you open the jar.

Every identification can become a permanent journal entry. Export or share when a friend, an heir, or future-you needs the list.

  • Personal notes, effects tags, flavors, and star ratings.
  • THC / CBD fields and a smoked / tried flag.
  • Photo history tied to each log.
  • Wishlist and for-trade next to owned.
  • Full export. Your journal is not trapped in the app.
Settings backup and restore so a beta never eats the journal.

How it works

Snap. Rank. Save. Repeat.

Capture the strain

Pick the category. Snap a bud, plant, leaf, or concentrate. Flat, well-lit, fill the frame. Or add it manually.

Review the shortlist

Ranked matches with confidence. Catalog first, vision API if needed. Low scores stay labeled.

Save to the journal

Notes, effects, flavors, rating, photo. Wishlist if it isn’t yours yet. Export after you scan so a beta never eats the jar.

Trade or look up later

Trades are optional. The journal stays local unless you sync or share.

Ownership

You own the journal. That is a design constraint.

Independent collector app. Not a dispensary. Not a lab. Not a brand catalog.

Photos

ID, then silence

A resized photo may go to the identification provider so the app can suggest a strain. Photos are not sold. Manual add never sends a photo.

Estimates

Not a lab

Identifications are visual estimates only — not potency tests, medical advice, or legal advice. 21+ where cannabis is legal.

Backup

Export first

Betas can wipe local data. Export or optional cloud sync after you scan. The journal should survive the next build.

Keys

Free first

Start on the free photo-ID allotment. Optional Pro is an auto-renewing store subscription on each platform.

Age

21+ where legal

Not directed at children. Sign-in is Google on Android, Apple on iOS, or continue as guest.
